Taita Miguel Mavisoy

Taita Miguel is Kamëntšá Biyá and carries the yagé tradition of his family and community. What you notice first is how gentle he is. He laughs a lot, he hugs trees, and he speaks about the plants the way other people speak about old friends.

Culture

Meet the people, hear their stories, discover their traditions

This journey is also an invitation to get to know the people who call this region home. We will meet local artists and musicians, share creative experiences, and spend time learning directly from our hosts.

Special sessions with the Taitas will introduce the cosmovision of the Kamëntšá Biyá people, exploring the perspectives and traditions they choose to share with us.

Through music, art, food, conversations, and time on the land, you will discover a cultural richness that reaches far beyond the ceremony space.

Your days

Beautiful days, with room to unfold

Each day is shaped individually, taking into account the group's energy, the weather, and whether a ceremony is planned.

Delicious breakfasts, a gentle pace, and time to rest form the foundation of our days. Depending on the day, we may take a nature walk, visit a waterfall, wander a local market, or spend time with local artists and musicians. On ceremony days, we leave space for preparation and rest.

There is a thoughtful structure to the journey, with flexibility to respond to the people who are here.

Guests' words

What people say after they've been

Franziskavoice therapist, Germany

“Deep, profound work, and at the same time so caring, loving and light.”

Read the full words

I visited Min and Miguel a year ago, and it is still one of the most profound experiences of my life. I have worked with shamans from many different lineages, and I have never seen work like Taita Miguel's.

The place feels like home, like a big family. Several people guide you in ceremony, Min included, which is unusual in the jungle where shamans often work alone. Having her there mattered to me. She harmonized the space, she translated, and she understood my world as well as the shamanic one.

This is the only place where I found yagé crudo, prepared fresh for every person who comes. You can feel the intention, love and devotion in it. Min isn't preaching anything. She walks beside you and makes sure you are in the best hands.

I loved eating fish caught that morning with the whole family, going on walks while they explained the plants, and Taita Miguel showing me natural remedies for things I was dealing with. If you want an authentic experience with the plants, go here. Min's work is about the culture, the land and the medicine, and you feel that in every moment.

“They took care of us with so much love, guidance and support.”

In the lush jungle of Colombia, Min, along with the beautiful disciples, created a safe, transformative space. It was a life-changing experience doing plant medicine, and they took care of us with so much love, guidance, and support. We bathed in the refreshing waterfall and nourished ourselves with healthy food throughout the retreat.

It was truly life-changing, and if you would like that in your life, this is highly recommended. I highly suggest reaching out to Min. You'll be in great hands and supported throughout the journey.

Suitability and safety

Care starts with an honest conversation

Yagé is not appropriate for everyone. Participation requires an application, a conversation about your health history and medications, and a suitability review. Never stop or change prescribed medication without guidance from your prescribing clinician.

An application does not guarantee a place. This retreat does not replace medical or psychological treatment, and we do not promise healing or any particular outcome.

  • Some medications, especially antidepressants, can interact dangerously with yagé. Tell us everything you take.
  • Certain heart conditions, high blood pressure, pregnancy, and a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder can rule out participation.
